Dear TCBL Program Administrators, Coaches, and Team Managers:
We are thrilled to announce a record 32 playoff brackets for TCBL’s 245 teams! You will see some changes from the regular season:
* Certain brackets were split or “chiseled.”
* Teams that were clearly misplaced in the regular season were moved up or down, as appropriate.
These adjustments were largely data-driven. However, some required subjective analysis by TCBL’s Playoff Committee. For example, teams that moved up or down were seeded into their new divisions in a manner that, based upon our experience, we believe would cause the least disruption to “native” teams.
It’s never a perfect process, but–as always–all such decisions were made in the interest of parity to increase the likelihood of a competitive first-round game and maximize the collective playoff experience for our players.
Please review these important playoff notes:
Games listed with PLAY BY are to be hosted by the higher-seeded team. Team schedulers should get in touch with one another as soon as possible to find a mutually agreeable slot. Once set, enter games into LeagueBrain just like you did after the November scheduling meetings. Then, referees will be assigned and confirmed.
Please enter scores immediately after games so we can advance teams through the brackets.
Be mindful of the PLAY BY dates so we can stay on schedule.
We recommend playing your quarterfinal games earlier than 3/3, if possible.
Games listed as TBD will be played Friday, March 6th, through Sunday, March 8th, at Hackley School and House of Sports. Those neutral-site slots will be announced no later than Monday morning, March 2nd.
During the entire playoffs, all referees will be paid directly by TCBL.
One final important note: TCBL trusts that only rostered players will participate in the playoffs. We realize that, on a very limited basis, some players were “borrowed” during the season (e.g., B → A, from the Blue to the White team, or up a grade) to avoid forfeits when regulars were unavailable. THAT PRACTICE IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED in the playoffs–and TCBL reserves the right to check scorebooks against rosters and take action as necessary.
